• Computer-Based Assessment in E-Learning - One of the most challenging questions I had when beginning to create e-learning for the online college I created was "How am I going to be able to make quality assessments in online learning?" Eventually I was afraid I would be limited to just True/False and Multiple Choice questions. Then, two things happened. 1) I read this amazing article from the Journal of Technology, Learning, and Assessment that gives types of assessments you can do online along with examples, and 2) I learned that Multiple Choice questions can be effective assessments if they are done right. I hope to be using this article again and again as a highly-valuable reference for building online assessment.
• E-Learning Development to Support Outside Learning and a Flipped Classroom - While online learning can be used exclusively for a course and in-person learning can be used exclusively for a course, E-learning and in-person learning do not have to be mutually exclusive. E-learning can be used to supplement a course that is an in-person learning course. This blog post will attempt to describe efforts in using E-learning modules to support outside learning in an in-person class, and to support the use of a flipped classroom model used during part of a course. Technology, as well as different uses for the E-learning within the course, will be highlighted.
• An Experiential E-Learning Experience - This is a course design I did for my Master's degree and it won a Certificate of Excellence from the evaluators. It includes information about UDL, adult learning differences, and equity and inclusion. If you like, use it as an example of designing experiential e-learning for adults.
• The Impact of Immersive Learning Techniques on Non-Linear Process Instruction - This is the paper accompanying my capstone project for Western Governors University. It is written as a scientific paper, including abstract, literature review, and research results.
• A Revision of Bloom's Taxonomy - I use Bloom's Taxonomy and associated verbs a lot, whether in describing the learning goals for a particular week in a course, or designing a competency-based assessment structure for a course using the 6 levels of the Cognitive Process Dimension. This shareable handout from Iowa State University has a nice illustration of Bloom's Taxonomy with both the Cognitive Process Dimension and a Knowledge Dimension.

• Learner-Centered Teaching by Maryellen Weimer - This book may convince you to change the way you teach.
• Creating Significant Learning Experiences by L. Dee Fink - I've been using the steps in this book for years to design courses. The author is L. Dee Fink and his taxonomy is taught in graduate school education.
• What the Best College Teachers Do by Ken Bain- This book will convince you that what Maryellen Weimer and L. Dee Fink taught in the previous two books was right.

• Adobe Color - Create color palettes and test them for accessibility with a color blind audience

E-Learning Creation Tools

• Adobe Captivate - Create e-learning modules. I've used this software to program more complex interactions within an e-learning module, such as executing multiple if-then statements upon entrance to a slide.
• Articulate Storyline - Create e-learning modules. This software has made my e-learning modules responsive across multiple sizes of screens.
• Twine - An open-source tool for telling interactive, nonlinear stories (FREE)

LMS Hosting

• Key To School - I use this company for Moodle hosting. They are inexpensive, but effective.
• Google Cloud- I use this service to host SCORM modules without an LMS. They only charge based on usage.

Rubrics and Guidelines

• SUNY Online Course Quality Review Rubric (OSCQR) - I have used this rubric for assessing e-learning material that I constructed. It's a rubric to help you review your e-learning and make sure that it is learner centered and well designed. You can also download the OSCQR Scorecard, made available by the Online Learning Consortium.
• Universal Design for Learning Guidelines (UDL) - I learned about these guidelines in my Master's degree. They can offer students more options for engagement, representation, and action and expression.
