I’m a Digital Instructional Designer/Developer and a Media Production Specialist. I have years of experience in instructional design and in media production, as well as a Master's degree in both areas. I work in instructional design and media production for a nonprofit organization and a corporation. I have been involved in media production and/or media education for over 25 years. As for instructional design and development, I have over 4 years of course designing and e-learning development for higher education, a nonprofit organization, and a corporation.
What I Am Looking For: Besides the perfect recipe for homemade, restaurant-style salsa, I am looking to continue working in education and media, develop memorable and amazing e-learning, and continue to learn and expand my skills.
See My ID PortfolioSee My ID ResumeSee My Curriculum VitaeMy ID Process: My initial process includes design thinking and needs analysis for learning who the target audience is and what they need. The instructional design process uses appropriate learning theory and relevant instructional design options. Most of my course design has been utilizing Fink's 12-step process, which includes the elements of backwards design. Since I am able to work in all stages of design and development, I can adapt to ADDIE, SAM, or whatever process is appropriate for the challenge.
My Difference: What sets me apart is that I can not only design memorable learning experiences, but I can create the e-learning modules and media myself. If you need an e-learning module, e-book, podcast, video, or animation, I have created all of those.
I'm very organized, I have a lot of patience (especially if you keep me well-fed), and I can take constructive criticism to make the end result better.
Who Am I Really?:
- My personality may seem laid back and quiet, but I inject humor into almost any situation, all while taking my work very seriously.
- I'm a rebel to the educational system because I believe learning can be fun, even though it may rarely be made that way.
- My work is done to an "on-air" standard. One of my broadcasting teachers taught us, "If it's not good enough to go on-the-air, it's not good enough." In broadcasting, it either goes on-air because it's done right, or it goes in the garbage because it's useless for broadcasting.
- I'm a professional in the true sense of the word, meaning I don't know everything, but I know enough to learn what I don't know.
- I'm a lifelong learner because I want to be (see 3 Master's degrees described below), and because I have to be. As the sole Media Production Specialist for a nonprofit organization, I have had to learn new pieces of software or revised software interfaces time and again because that's what it takes to get the job done.
With over 4 years of designing courses, building and administering an online college in the Moodle LMS, over 11 years of teaching media on the college level, and 20 years experience in media production, I am familiar with how to design significant learning experiences and communicate through media.
Let's start a discussion!
